Critical areas expected to feature in the President’s address include the economy, health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, with a strong focus on policies and strategies aimed at driving growth, improving social services, strengthening food security, and accelerating national development.

The presentation is also expected to give insight into the government’s strategies for sustainable development and economic recovery in 2026.

The SONA fulfils a constitutional requirement under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the President to appear before Parliament at the start of each session to report on the state of the nation.

Ahead of the address, the Minority in Parliament has urged the President to present concrete solutions to pressing challenges confronting Ghanaian youth, particularly unemployment and rising economic pressures.

The 2026 State of the Nation Address is expected to set the tone for legislative business and policy implementation for the year, offering a clear roadmap for national development and governance.
