The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has expressed strong confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would secure a parliamentary majority if elections were conducted today.
Addressing members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), the Effutu Member of Parliament called on the party’s youth wing to intensify grassroots mobilisation and actively promote the NPP’s ideals.
“If elections are held today, NPP will be in the majority,” Afenyo-Markin stated.
He emphasised that the energy, dedication, and commitment of young party members are crucial to rebuilding the party’s momentum ahead of future elections.

The Minority Leader underscored the importance of unity within the party, urging members to set aside internal differences and work towards a common goal.
“We must remain united and focused on rebuilding the party for victory,” he urged.
He warned that division and internal conflicts could undermine the party’s chances if not addressed promptly.
Afenyo-Markin praised TESCON members for their continued dedication and loyalty to the party, describing their involvement as central to the NPP’s resurgence.
“Your role as young party faithful is critical to our comeback,” he noted.
Praising the NPP’s track record, the Effutu MP pointed to several development projects undertaken in his constituency, including the construction of police stations, modern school facilities, and ICT training centres.
He indicated that such initiatives reflect the party’s commitment to improving livelihoods and investing in the future of young people.
Afenyo-Markin maintained that the NPP left behind a stronger economy than it inherited in 2017, citing improved GDP growth during its tenure.
“We handed over a stronger economy with better growth compared to what we inherited,” he asserted.
He encouraged party supporters to remain optimistic and forward-looking, urging them to move beyond disappointment and work collectively towards restoring the party’s political strength.
“Let us stay hopeful and work hard to bring the party back stronger,” he said.
