The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has fulfilled a key campaign promise by commissioning the first-ever Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in the district.

The facility, named the Lord Boam Skills Development and Training Center, is located in Yeji and was established through the personal initiative and financial support of the MP, with assistance from development partners.

The centre is expected to equip students with practical, employable skills while contributing significantly to the local economy.

Hon. Boam has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to education in the district.

His previous interventions include the donation of computers to Yeji Senior High School, the organisation of inter-school quiz competitions, and the recognition and rewarding of outstanding teachers. His focus on STEM and vocational training is aimed at bridging the skills gap and empowering the youth.

The newly commissioned TVET centre will offer hands-on training in key areas such as Catering, Fashion, Electronics, and Electricals. Each department is fully equipped with modern practical tools. In addition to technical training, students will also study core subjects including English, Mathematics, and Science.

The institution is fully accredited by the Ghana Education Service under the TVET Act, ensuring that graduates receive recognised professional certification for the job market.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Boam reiterated his commitment to inclusive education, stressing that access to skills training should not be limited by age, financial constraints, or social circumstances. He expressed confidence that the centre will provide opportunities for less privileged individuals to acquire valuable skills.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening TVET education through the provision of state-of-the-art facilities nationwide.

He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the establishment of the Digital Engineering University at Oforikrom in Techiman.
He urged residents of Pru East to take good care of the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability and benefit for future generations.

The Bono East Regional Director of TVET, Mr. Appiah Kubi, also advised the public to recognise and respect the expertise of artisans, stressing that technical knowledge is as valuable as academic education.

Admissions are currently open for the first batch of students at the Lord Boam Skills Development and Training Center in Yeji.
