The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has emerged as the standout performer at this year’s Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) Awards, securing the prestigious State-Owned Enterprise of the Year title.

The Board’s dominance did not end there, as it also picked up awards for Most Profitable State-Owned Enterprise and Overall Best Specified Entity, cementing its position as one of Ghana’s best-performing public institutions.

The PELT Awards, organised by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), recognise state institutions that demonstrate excellence in governance, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

GoldBod’s triple win reflects its consistent delivery across key performance indicators and its growing role in Ghana’s economic landscape.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the Board, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Richard Nunekpeku expressed appreciation to SIGA for the recognition.

“We are excited to receive this award and the third award of the night. On behalf of the Board, management and staff… we thank SIGA for recognising our performance over the years,” he said.

He noted that the honour serves as motivation for the institution to maintain its high standards.

Mr. Nunekpeku assured that GoldBod remains focused on achieving its performance targets and sustaining its upward trajectory.

“We are not backing down; we are committed to growing and making sure that we achieve all the targets we set for ourselves,” he stated.

He emphasized the Board’s determination to strengthen its impact and deliver value within Ghana’s gold sector.

The recognition underscores GoldBod’s increasing influence in driving reforms within the gold industry, particularly in areas such as transparency, value retention, and sustainable resource management.

Industry observers say the Board’s performance reflects a broader push toward improved governance and accountability in Ghana’s extractive sector.

The PELT Awards continue to serve as a critical tool for assessing the performance of state-owned enterprises and specified entities.

By promoting accountability, efficiency, and sound corporate governance, the awards play a key role in strengthening Ghana’s public sector institutions and enhancing service delivery.
