Antoine Semenyo delivered a solid full-match performance as Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in Sunday’s EFL Cup final.

A decisive second-half brace from Nico O’Reilly—deployed in an unfamiliar left-back role—powered City to their first piece of silverware this season.

Operating primarily from the right flank, Semenyo proved a constant attacking outlet and nearly crowned his performance with a goal after the break. His curling left-footed strike, however, drifted narrowly wide.

Speaking after the match, the Ghana international expressed confidence and faith in the journey ahead.

“First trophy of many, I hope! God’s got a plan,” he told Sky Sports. “It might not work out, you might not know why, but the answer always reveals itself.”

The triumph marks Semenyo’s first major trophy since his January move from AFC Bournemouth, highlighting his rapid impact at the club.

In achieving the feat, Semenyo becomes the first Ghanaian to win the competition since Michael Essien lifted the trophy with Chelsea in 2007.

He is now set to link up with the Ghana national football team in Vienna ahead of upcoming international friendlies against the Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this week.

City’s victory not only signals a strong start to their campaign but also marks a significant milestone in Semenyo’s rising career on the European stage.
