The Ghana Football Association has sacked the Head Coach of the senior men’s national team, Otto Addo, with immediate effect, following a string of disappointing results by the Black Stars.
The decision comes after a series of lacklustre performances, including recent defeats to the Austria and Germany national football teams in international friendlies, raising concerns about the team’s form ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
In a brief statement, the GFA expressed appreciation to Otto Addo for his service to Ghanaian football.

“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement noted.
Otto Addo, who previously guided the Black Stars through key international assignments, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup, exits at a crucial moment as preparations intensify for the next global showpiece.
His departure signals a shift in technical direction as the Association moves to address performance concerns and rebuild confidence within the squad.
Ghana faces a daunting task in Group L of the World Cup, where they are set to take on the England national football team, Panama national football team, and Croatia national football team.
The GFA indicated that it will, in due course, announce a new head coach as preparations intensify for the tournament.
The decision underscores the urgency within Ghana’s football administration to reverse the Black Stars’ recent struggles and position the team for a stronger showing on the international stage.
