Climate Communications and Local Governance–Africa (CCLG-Africa) has facilitated the participation of a seven-member delegation from Ghana’s Parliament at the prestigious ChangeNOW Summit 2026 in Paris, marking a significant step in deepening the country’s engagement in global climate governance and policy dialogue.
The summit, which commenced on March 30, 2026, represents the ninth edition of one of the world’s largest gatherings dedicated to accelerating environmental and social impact.

The Ghanaian delegation—drawn from the Select Committee on Environment, Science and Technology, the Office of the Clerk to Parliament, Media Relations, Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy, and the Parliamentary Press Corps—engaged with global leaders, innovators, and development partners on practical responses to climate change and sustainable development.

Their participation underscores Ghana’s growing commitment to tackling climate challenges while advancing a sustainable development agenda.
According to CCLG-Africa, the initiative forms part of its broader mission to strengthen climate communication, enhance local governance responses to environmental challenges, and deepen collaboration between policymakers and civil society across the continent.

“The participation of Ghana’s Parliament at the summit is a significant step towards strengthening the role of legislators in shaping climate-responsive policies and effective oversight mechanisms,” the organisation noted.
The ChangeNOW summit convened policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, civil society actors, and scientists from across the globe, showcasing innovative solutions aimed at addressing the climate crisis while promoting sustainable development.
This year’s discussions placed strong emphasis on climate resilience, energy transition, biodiversity protection, and the transformation of economic systems in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action).

Delegates took part in high-level discussions, thematic forums, exhibitions, and collaborative sessions focused on scaling practical, real-world solutions.
Key areas of focus included renewable energy expansion, climate finance, nature-based solutions, sustainable cities, the circular economy, and the protection of oceans and forests—initiatives critical to reducing emissions, restoring ecosystems, and supporting climate-vulnerable communities.
The Media Relations Department of Parliament, alongside Parliamentary Relations and Diplomacy and the Parliamentary Press Corps, played a pivotal role in projecting Ghana’s climate commitments and amplifying awareness of national initiatives.

For CCLG-Africa, Ghana’s presence at the ChangeNOW summit signals progress in strengthening legislative influence on climate governance, while also opening new avenues for international partnerships in climate financing, policy innovation, and technical cooperation.
The platform also enabled Ghana’s delegation to highlight Africa-specific climate challenges, including coastal erosion, flooding, and deforestation, while advocating for stronger local governance systems to address environmental risks.
Beyond policy dialogue, the summit served as a hub for partnerships and innovation—supporting start-ups and showcasing technologies aimed at decarbonising industries, transforming food systems, and building climate-resilient communities.

Attracting thousands of participants from governments, development institutions, businesses, and advocacy groups, the summit offered strategic opportunities to forge alliances that could shape the future of global climate action.
Ghana’s participation ultimately reinforces its commitment to climate-responsive governance and sustainable development, while demonstrating Africa’s growing influence in shaping solutions to the global climate crisis.
