Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Clement Apaak, has attributed the resumption of the Chuchuliga–Fumbisi road project to a campaign promise fulfilled by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the project, initially started in 2016 but later stalled, has now been revived following a commitment made by the President during the election campaign.

“Work had started in 2016 but stalled. A promise was made by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during the campaign that if allowed to govern and if the people of Builsa South retained me as Member of Parliament, one of the things he would do was to resume work towards completing our portion of the road from Navrongo to Sandema,” he stated.

He confirmed that work has officially resumed, adding that he remains in constant engagement with both the contractor and the Roads Minister to ensure steady progress.

Meanwhile, the Fix the Roads in Buluk Movement has welcomed the development, describing it as a direct outcome of sustained citizen advocacy and stakeholder collaboration.

In a statement, the group commended the government, the MP, and all relevant actors for facilitating the contractor’s return to the site.

“This is a clear demonstration of commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens and underscores the value of constructive civic engagement,” the Movement noted.

The group also expressed optimism about the contractor’s phased execution strategy, which will cover key stretches including Chuchuliga–Sandema, Gbedema–Fumbisi, and Fumbisi–Wiesi.

“We are particularly encouraged by the contractor’s innovative approach to executing the project in phases. This strategy is expected to enhance efficiency and accelerate progress,” the statement added.

Despite the positive outlook, the Movement urged strict adherence to quality standards and timelines to ensure the project delivers long-term value.

“We urge the contractor to ensure that the highest standards of quality are maintained, while adhering strictly to the stipulated timelines,” it stressed.

The group further called on Dr. Apaak to prioritise additional feeder roads in the district to improve mobility and stimulate economic activity across the Buluk area.
