The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) says it is allocating 20 percent of its resources to complete legacy projects across the country.

According to the Fund, nearly GH¢8 billion worth of projects remain unfinished nationwide, a situation it attributes to funding constraints and the abandonment of initiatives by successive administrations.

The Administrator of the Fund, Michael Yamson, disclosed this during a visit by the Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the DACF Secretariat.

“We now know that we are sitting with close to GH¢8 billion in unfinished initiatives all over Ghana. Partly due to politics and partly because the money is not there.

“So, chief executives and assemblies will start projects not knowing where the money to finish them will come from. And also because their allocations were very low. Now their allocations are bigger than ever.

“Now we are very clear, you must finish all work once started. The government has made a commitment that we will tackle even the prorammes we came to meet.”

Mr Yamson added that the Fund has also partnered with a private organisation to construct dams in all constituencies, with work set to begin in five constituencies this year.
