Subject: Proposal for Strategic Partnership – Donation of 1 Cedi per Production Unit and 10% of Book Sales to Support Ghana’s Educational Infrastructure
Honourable Minister,
I write to you with a deep sense of national responsibility on behalf of the Esther Osei Kuffour Memorial Research Institute (EOKMRI). I am Dr. Derrick Kwaku Antwi, Founder of the Institute.
Established in honour of my late Grandmother, Esther Osei Kuffour, our Institute is dedicated to advancing community-centred research and development.

In keeping with our mission to give back to the nation that shaped us, I am pleased to propose a formal partnership with the Ministry of Education to inject sustainable, private-sector-generated funding into Ghana’s educational infrastructure.
Proposed Contribution Model
To support the Government’s efforts under the Education Strategic Plan (ESP), EOKMRI commits to the following recurring donations:
1. One Ghana Cedi (GHS 1.00) for every unit of production (goods, publications, or manufactured items) generated by the Institute’s commercial or research activities.
2. Ten percent (10%) of net proceeds from all books sold by the Institute or its affiliated authors (including works by collaborators and me).
These funds are not administrative levies. They are direct, unrestricted contributions designated specifically for educational infrastructure projects – classroom construction, library rehabilitation, sanitation facilities, and STEM lab equipment in underserved districts.
Why This Partnership Matters
· Predictable, Long-Term Support: Unlike one-off donations, this model links contribution to production volume, creating a renewable funding stream that grows with the Institute’s success.
· Accountability & Transparency: We request a simple, quarterly reporting framework from the Ministry’s Infrastructure Directorate so that our donors and the public can see real impact on school facilities.
· Memorial Legacy: Every block built or latrine commissioned under this partnership will carry the name “Dr. Derrick Kwaku Antwi Project” as a testament to your Ministry’s collaboration with civil society.
Our Request to the Ministry
We propose the following next steps:
1. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the remittance schedule (e.g., quarterly or bi-annual transfers) and the Ministry’s commitment to allocate 100% of received funds to verifiable infrastructure line items.
2. Designation of a Ministry Liaison to facilitate seamless communication and public acknowledgement of donations (e.g., press statements, joint site visits).
3. Tax incentive support – if possible – to encourage other Ghanaian researchers and producers to adopt similar self-funding models for education.
Pilot Phase
We are prepared to launch a six-month pilot beginning [Insert Month, Year], during which we will transfer the first GHS 1/unit and 10% from initial book sales for a single infrastructure need you identify (e.g., renovating one basic school in the Ashanti Region).
Conclusion
Honourable Minister, Ghana’s educational infrastructure requires every hand on deck. The Esther Osei Kuffour Memorial Research Institute is not a large corporation, but we are committed, home-grown, and ready to act. I humbly request a 30-minute audience with you or your designated team to discuss implementation details.
Yours respectfully,
Dr. Derrick Kwaku Antwi
