The Ghana Police Service has launched a full Police Investigation into allegations of defilement and incest involving a serving officer stationed at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement issued by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command, the officer was identified as Desmond Owusu Afriyie, who is attached to the Mamponteng District Police Command.
The ongoing Police Investigation follows a complaint filed on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, who alleges that her biological father sexually abused her.

According to the statement from the Public Affairs Unit in Mampong, the suspect reported himself to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Agona on February 20, 2026.
He was arrested, cautioned, and questioned by investigators. During interrogation, he denied the allegations and was subsequently granted enquiry bail with instructions to report periodically to assist with the Police Investigation.
The alleged victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination to support the case.
The Ashanti North Regional Police Command confirmed that Inspector Afriyie has been interdicted to allow for a thorough and impartial investigation.
Police say the matter remains under active investigation and assured the public that all procedures will be followed to ensure justice is served.
The Command added that additional updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses.

The officer’s interdiction is intended to preserve the integrity of the investigative process while protecting the interests of all parties involved.
