The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has named Osei Bonsu Amoah, popularly known as O.B. Amoah, as Chairman of its influential Electoral Committee, a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s preparations for the 2028 general election.

The appointment of O.B. Amoah to chair the Electoral Committee forms part of a broader reorganisation through which the NPP has constituted Standing and Sector Committees to sharpen policy development, deepen stakeholder engagement, and rebuild internal structures.

According to the party, the Electoral Committee will play a central role in guiding electoral strategy, strengthening grassroots organisation, and positioning the NPP for a strong return to power.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council on May 7, 2026.

In a statement signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the committees were constituted in line with Articles 10(2)(6), 10(3)(8) and 14(5) of the NPP Constitution.

The initiative is intended to strengthen internal governance and ensure the party remains policy-driven and organisationally robust ahead of future political contests.

O.B. Amoah will work with Evans Nimako as Secretary.

The committee includes several prominent party figures, among them:

Peter Mac Manu
Matthew Opoku Prempeh
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful
Henry Nana Boakye
Samuel Atta Akyea

Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah
Other Key Standing Committees

The NPP also announced several other major committees:

Policy Committee chaired by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah;
