Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Samuel Awuku, has urged the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to remain focused and resilient amid what he described as attempts to derail his presidential ambitions ahead of the 2028 general election.

In a Facebook post, the former National Organiser of the NPP, popularly known as Sammi Awuku,, encouraged Dr. Bawumia to stay the course despite challenges and political distractions.

“To my dear flagbearer, friend, and senior brother Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, some journeys are never smooth, and some roads are written in dust and rain. Yet history remembers those who kept walking when the ground was uncertain,” he wrote.

Sammi Awuku drew parallels between Dr. Bawumia’s political journey and those of former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who both endured difficult periods before eventually leading the country.

“The same spirit that carried J.A. Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo through seasons of trial is not absent from this path. You are no stranger to pressure. Your resolve has always spoken quietly but firmly. And as the path unfolds, know that there are those who remain in the margins of every storm, steady and unshaken, walking with you without noise but with conviction,” he added.

The Akuapim North MP urged Dr. Bawumia to continue presenting himself and the NPP as a credible alternative for Ghanaians in the next election cycle.

“We have seen and heard all that is happening around. We know the target is Dr. Bawumia, but he should remain calm and focus on the task ahead. That task is bigger and no amount of distractions will undermine those efforts,” he said.

Sammi Awuku, who is considered a close ally and confidant of Dr. Bawumia, maintained that the NPP stands a strong chance of reclaiming power in the 2028 general election under the former Vice President’s leadership.

He also criticised the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, accusing it of failing to fulfil its campaign promises to Ghanaians.

“The NDC promised heaven and earth in the 2024 elections. How many of these promises have they fulfilled? See this 24-hour economy policy, it remains a scam. Look at unemployment in Ghana now; it has skyrocketed than before. This administration has failed woefully and will be voted out in 2028,” he asserted.

The former National Organiser further called on party members to close ranks and work together in pursuit of victory in the next elections.

“The NPP is the only party we have, the only vehicle that we all ride. Only unity can get us the victory we want in 2028. Let’s remain united and stand behind Dr. Bawumia for the goal ahead,” he said.
