The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Builsa South, Daniel Gariba Anganta, has allegedly assaulted the head of the Business Advisory Center (BAC), Saeed Jafar, at the district assembly premises in Fumbisi.
The incident, which reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over equipment meant for apprentices, left Mr. Jafar with multiple injuries, including a laceration on his upper lip and nasal bleeding.
The equipment, including hairdryers and sewing machines, is under the custody of Mr. Jafar for distribution to apprentices as part of a government initiative.
According to sources, the DCE, who is also the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, insisted on distributing the items to voters as part of his campaign efforts.
Mr. Jafar opposed the move, citing their designated purpose, which reportedly infuriated the DCE.
A medical report from the Builsa South District Hospital confirmed that Mr. Jafar sustained “blunt trauma to the neck,” “lip laceration,” and “nasal bleeding due to assault.”
The report also noted that the victim was in stable condition but suffered severe headaches and musculoskeletal pain.
Reports indicate that the altercation escalated when the Builsa South DCE allegedly knocked and repeatedly punched Mr. Jafar on the forehead after the disagreement.
Following the incident, Mr. Gariba reportedly remarked, “You can go to the Fumbisi Police Station. Not even the IGP can help you.”
Mr. Jafar, expressing his shock over the incident indicated he did not expect such a violent reaction from the DCE over a minor disagreement.
The Fumbisi Police confirmed receiving a formal complaint from Mr. Jafar, who was issued a medical form to seek treatment. The police assured the public that investigations were underway.
Attempts to reach the DCE for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
