During an appearance on TV3’s The Key Ponts on Saturday, December 28, the Asante Akyem NPP stated, “The NPP constitution is so flawed and needs amendment. Monetisation has gradually taken over the party.”
To address these challenges, the NPP announced plans to establish a committee in January 2025 to evaluate its performance in the 2024 general elections.
The committee will identify factors behind the party’s defeat and recommend strategies for strengthening its prospects.
The 2024 elections, declared by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, December 9, saw National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate John Dramani Mahama secure a decisive victory with 6,328,397 votes (56.55%). His main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).
NPP National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim admitted the outcome was disappointing.
“The results were not what we anticipated,” he said, stressing the need for introspection and structural changes to position the party for future success.
