Valued at approximately GH¢100,000.00, the donation is aimed at improving hygiene and safeguarding the health of both inmates and prison officers.

During the presentation on Tuesday, February 7, 2025, EV Beauty Ghana’s Chief Executive Office expressed deep appreciation to the Ghanaian government for fostering a conducive environment for foreign businesses to thrive.

Ying Jie, called by her adopted Ghanaian name Ohemaa Ama Vera, acknowledged the government’s support, which has played a crucial role in the growth of their business in Ghana.

“As foreigners in Ghana, we recognize the support and protection provided by the government, which has allowed us to establish and grow our business. In Chinese culture, when someone extends a favour, it is essential to give back. This donation is our way of showing gratitude,” Vera said.

Vera stressed the importance of rehabilitation and reintegration for inmates, aligning the company’s mission with the Ghana Prisons Service’s efforts to provide second chances. She emphasized that the donation would help contribute to the health and well-being of inmates, aiding their reintegration into society.

“The theme of the prison service is about giving inmates another opportunity to rebuild their lives. By supporting their hygiene and health, we hope to contribute to their well-being and future reintegration into society,” she stated.

She also recognized the crucial role of prison officers in maintaining an effective correctional system, stressing the importance of their health as well.

Unique properties of donated disinfectants

EV Beauty Ghana developed the donated disinfectants during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Vera stressing the product’s unique properties. She explained that the disinfectant is alcohol-free, chemical-free, color-free, and taste-free, making it as safe as water for human use.

“It is made using human blood cell technology, ensuring it effectively eliminates viruses while remaining completely safe for human use,” Ama Vera explained.

In addition to disinfectants, EV Beauty Ghana offers a variety of beauty products such as body lotions, face cleansers, and pregnancy-safe skincare solutions. The company plans to introduce lipsticks and other beauty products soon.

Prisons Service gratitude

The Ghana Prisons Service expressed its gratitude for the generous donation, recognizing the positive impact it will have on maintaining hygiene within the prison system. Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Sophia Osei-Bonsu, who received the donation on behalf of the service, thanked EV Beauty Ghana for its support.

“On behalf of the officers at the Prison Headquarters, we sincerely appreciate this generous donation from EV Beauty Ghana. We believe in its effectiveness and look forward to seeing its benefits for both officers and inmates,” she said.

DDP Osei-Bonsu encouraged EV Beauty Ghana to extend its support to other prison facilities across the country, noting that there are 46 stations nationwide, each with both inmates and officers who would benefit from such donations.

“We hope that in the future you will visit and extend your support to these other stations as well,” Osei-Bonsu added.
