The youth of Kusaug in Bawku have pledged their full cooperation with the Ghana Police Service, marking a significant step toward reconciliation following recent tensions sparked by the tragic killing of a community member.
In a heartfelt statement, the group expressed deep appreciation for their community’s resilience in upholding their sovereignty while passionately advocating for unity and healing.
This move comes after the swift and decisive intervention of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who personally visited the Zugraan, the Paramount Chief of Kusaug, to address the incident.
The youth commended the IGP for his sincere private and public apology to the Zugraan and the Kusaug people, stressing its importance in restoring trust.
“In keeping with our traditions, the Zugraan has graciously accepted the apology, urging calm, forgiveness, and a renewed partnership between the youth and the police,” the statement affirmed.
They praised the IGP’s prompt actions as a clear demonstration of the police service’s dedication to preventing such incidents in the future.
“We commend all stakeholders for their swift and compassionate response, and we wholeheartedly welcome the IGP’s efforts to rebuild trust and foster lasting peace,” they added.
In a spirit of unity, the Kusaug youth extended a firm assurance to the government and security agencies, signaling their readiness for collaborative progress. “We stand ready to open a new chapter with the Government of Ghana, the Interior and Defence Ministries, National Security, and the Ghana Police Service—committed to peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity,” the statement declared.
With a forward-looking vision, the youth called for collective forgiveness, renewed harmony, and a strengthened bond between Kusaug and the security forces, paving the way for a peaceful and secure future.
