Legal practitioner and social commentator, Martin Kpebu, has tipped Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, as the rising star poised to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2030s.
According to him, the legislator is a promising figure for the future, and expressed confidence in Boamah’s chances should the NPP or any new movement put him forward.
Speaking on TV3’s Saturday political talk show, ‘The Key Points,’ Martin Kpebu predicted that Ghana’s real political battle, both at the national level and within political parties, will take place in 2032.

According to him, that year will be defined by youth leadership and the emergence of a formidable third political force.
He argued that the 2028 general elections will mark the last time Ghanaians allow anyone above the age of 63 to contest. “In 2032, forget anybody older than that. It belongs to the youth,” he stated.
A rising star
“Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not the person we should be looking at for 2032. If the NPP presents Patrick Boamah, he stands a chance. But the real game-changer will be the third force,” he said.
The NPP’s chances of winning the 2028 elections, he said, are very remote and therefore the party should be eyeing 2032 with a younger and more dynamic contender to lead.
Kpebu dismissed the long-term presidential prospects of Dr. Bawumia, arguing that age will be a disqualifying factor by 2032.
“Bawumia will be around 69 by then. Please, there is no chance for a 69-year-old. We need fresh energy and not more of the same,” he stressed.
He added that the era of glorifying experience over innovation is coming to an end, as the younger generation increasingly demands transformational leadership from within its ranks.
The lawyer also hinted that by 2032, a third force, referring to a credible alternative to both the NPP and NDC, would have gained enough traction to mount a serious challenge.
“We’ve had enough of NPP and NDC. 2032 is the year the third force will likely take over. The duopoly must end,” he declared.
Although Patrick Boamah has not officially declared his intention to contest for the NPP’s flagbearership, his name has consistently surfaced in multiple polls. Musa Dankwa of Global InfoAnalytics revealed that the Okaikwei Central MP is increasingly gaining traction among the party’s grassroots, with his popularity steadily rising in recent surveys.
