The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared a blanket amnesty for all members currently serving suspensions or facing disciplinary action, in what leadership describes as a decisive step to strengthen internal unity ahead of crucial political battles.

A circular issued from the party’s headquarters and signed by Acting National Chairman, Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, said the decision followed an emergency National Council meeting on July 25, 2025.

“This measure reflects the Party’s unwavering commitment to fostering cohesion, deepening solidarity, and preparing together for the political tasks ahead,” Mr. Buttey stated.

With immediate effect, all suspensions are lifted and disciplinary proceedings halted. However, members who forfeited their membership must formally reapply to the national secretariat before being reinstated.

The directive also stipulates that reinstated members will be barred from contesting any internal party elections for a mandatory two-year period.

Mr. Buttey cautioned regional, constituency, and polling station executives against imposing arbitrary suspensions, urging strict adherence to the party’s constitution.

The NPP expressed optimism that the decision will renew commitment within its ranks and charged all executives and members to ensure full compliance.
