The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says it is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah before court this weekend.
The development follows the legislator’s voluntary surrender to EOCO on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at about 10 a.m., as part of investigations into a GH¢2.2 million payment made to his former law firm for legal services in a matter involving SIC Life.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 2, EOCO said Nana Baffour Awuah was cooperating with investigators as the Office continued with the necessary investigative, procedural and operational processes.

“Mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail,” EOCO said it was working with the Attorney-General’s Office to bring the suspect before a weekend court.
The development means the Baffour Awuah case is expected to come before the court as EOCO continues its investigation into the payment involving the legislator’s former law firm.
EOCO has also denied reports that it had granted Nana Baffour Awuah bail in the sum of GH¢50 million.
The anti-corruption agency urged members of the public to disregard the reports.
“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GH¢50 million bail,” EOCO stated.
Nana Baffour Awuah surrendered to EOCO after the Office secured a warrant for his arrest in connection with its investigation.
His lawyer, former Attorney-General and New Patriotic Party MP for Abuakwa North, Samuel Atta Akyea, earlier said the Manhyia South MP could spend the night at EOCO while questioning continued.
The Baffour Awuah case has attracted attention following the warrant, his subsequent surrender, and the ongoing investigation into the GH¢2.2 million payment.
EOCO’s latest statement indicates that the next major development will be the MP’s appearance before the weekend court, where issues surrounding his custody and bail are expected to be addressed.
