The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced an expansion of its voter register for the upcoming presidential primary slated for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Presidential Elections Committee, the party explained that the decision, grounded in Article 13(1)(11) of its constitution and transitional provisions adopted at the July 19, 2025, National Annual Delegates Conference, aims to enhance inclusivity and broaden participation in the party’s internal elections.

The revised register—popularly referred to as the party’s “album”—will now capture additional categories of party dignitaries and officials. These include all former regional and constituency executives, members of the National Council of Elders, 30 members of the National Council of Patrons, and past national officers. Also listed are external branch executives, TESCON leaders, former ministers and deputy ministers, as well as past metropolitan, municipal, and district chief executives (MMDCEs).
“All officers who qualify under these categories are to register with their respective organizational structures, including the National Secretariat, regions, constituencies, and external branches, with immediate effect,” the directive read.
To ease the process, an online portal will be provided for external branch executives, while downloadable forms will be made available on the party’s official website. The deadline for submission is Friday, September 19, 2025.
The Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee underscored the importance of the exercise, assuring that strict measures will be taken to ensure a credible and authentic register.
“The committee will carry out a thorough verification and validation of the album to guarantee a transparent and fair process,” he said, while urging eligible members to cooperate fully.
Party officials clarified that the registration is strictly limited to those who meet the criteria outlined in the new provisions.
