The Republic of Ghana is on the brink of an international diplomatic setback, with reports revealing that its newly recomposed list to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament has shockingly excluded the name of Third Deputy Speaker, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.

This omission could risk Ghana’s participation in the upcoming ECOWAS Parliamentary session, scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2025.

thenewsbulletin24.com investigations have uncovered that despite Afenyo-Markin having already been sworn in, his name is absent from the list forwarded to the ECOWAS Parliament, which contradicts the stipulations of the Supplementary Act.

Sources within the ECOWAS Parliament have remained tight-lipped when approached for comment on the issue.

With the clock ticking, Ghana’s Parliament now faces a race against time to rectify the situation and ensure Afenyo-Markin’s inclusion.

If the error is not corrected by 10:00 am Thursday September 25, 2025 the country risks its new members failing to be sworn in, which would lead to a significant diplomatic embarrassment for Ghana on the continental stage.

Behind the scenes, there have been multiple high-level meetings in an attempt to resolve the matter, but so far, no solution has been found.

The only way to avoid a crisis is for Ghana’s Parliament to urgently update the list and reinstate Afenyo-Markin as a member of the ECOWAS delegation and the Third Deputy Speaker.

As the deadline looms, all eyes are on Ghana to see if it can avert a potential diplomatic disaster.
