The Chairperson of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Hon. Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare, has urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to strictly adhere to their scheduled appearances before the Committee and avoid unnecessary postponements.

Speaking at the close of last Friday’s sitting in Accra, the Atiwa East MP reminded the institutions that the Committee has just two weeks — from October 27 to November 7, 2025 — to conclude its hearings before Parliament hears the presentation of the National Budget.

She said, “If you ask for a date outside the sitting period, you make it very inconvenient for us. We have a duty to review the Auditor-General’s reports and get Parliament to endorse our recommendations, so kindly work within the time allocated.”

Mrs. Osei-Asare also called on the Auditor-General’s Department to update the Committee on recoveries made from auditees, including those that have rectified audit infractions and those yet to do so.

Agencies that appeared before the Committee included the Forestry Commission, Lands Commission, Minerals Commission, and the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation, all under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, led by Deputy Minister Hon. Alhaji Sulemana Yussif, MP for Bole-Bamboi.

Others were the Copyright Office, Legal Aid Commission, Office of the Registrar of Companies, and EOCO, led by the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine. Agencies under the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, such as the EPA, CSIR, Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Biosafety Authority, and Building and Road Research Institute, also appeared.

The Committee is expected to reconvene on Monday, November 3, 2025, to consider the Auditor-General’s report on the Ministry of Education, Bank of Ghana, and National Petroleum Authority, among others.
