New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has declared that former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, holds no significance in his life.

According to Mr Agyapong, Dr Bawumia ‘does not exist’ to him, stressing that he has no interest in engaging with the former Vice President.

“I do not have time for Dr Bawumia. In my life, he does not exist, because if he existed, I might commit a crime,” he stated.

Mr Agyapong further alleged that Dr Bawumia was behind controversial comments made by the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, but declined to elaborate.

The outspoken NPP stalwart also cautioned party leadership and stakeholders against attempts to manipulate the upcoming NPP flagbearer election, saying he is aware of strategies being deployed to undermine certain aspirants.

“I do not have time for them, but that does not mean they should rig the election. I believe in the structures, and I know the Electoral Commission officials my opponents have engaged with,” he alleged.

He further claimed that plans are underway to use the party’s internal security apparatus to intimidate and humiliate individuals perceived to be close to him.

Recounting a previous incident at the residence of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr Agyapong said his remarks had been distorted on social media.

“I mentioned a certain man’s name; there was nobody there when I left. The next day, it was posted on social media, but I do not have anything against anybody,” he explained.

Speaking in a recent interview on Accra-based United Television, Mr Agyapong expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of appreciation for his efforts during the party’s recent campaign.

“Did I not campaign for him during the election? Did he even call me to appreciate my efforts?” he asked.

He said supporters of Dr Bawumia insulted him despite his contribution, adding that former Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) was the only loyal individual from Dr Bawumia’s camp.

“I took NAPO to my warehouse and gave out items freely, yet some young men claimed I never campaigned,” he lamented.
