The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has appealed to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to intervene in what he describes as recurring difficulties in securing timely access to the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for official consultations and decision-making.

In a letter dated October 22, 2026, and addressed to the minister, Mr Aggrey said the challenge has affected his ability to obtain timely guidance, approvals and decisions on urgent operational matters within his portfolio.

The deputy CEO, responsible for Marketing and Special Duties, said the difficulties particularly concerned his responsibilities in domestic tourism, special events and marketing.

According to the letter, Mr Aggrey has repeatedly sought meetings with the CEO through her secretary or personal assistant but was sometimes informed that she was unavailable.

“While I appreciate the demands on her schedule, this has made it difficult to obtain timely guidance, approvals, and decisions needed to carry out my duties effectively,” he stated.

He warned that the situation sometimes resulted in delays in operations, stakeholder engagements, and the implementation of key assignments at the tourism authority.

Mr Aggrey stressed that his letter is not intended as a personal complaint against the CEO but rather to draw attention to a communication gap that requires management attention.

He appealed to the minister to help establish a more effective arrangement for communication and consultations between the CEO and his office, particularly when urgent official matters require decisions.

The deputy CEO also requested that the intervention be undertaken with the knowledge of the GTA Board Chairperson, underscoring the need for an institutional approach to resolving the matter.

Despite the concerns raised, Mr Aggrey reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a professional working relationship with the CEO and the wider management team.
