The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, says adherence to the authentic faith of the fathers of the Christian faith has the power to advance national development.

Speaking at the Watch Night Service of Cedar Mountain Chapel to usher in the new year, Rev. Wengam drew lessons from the life of the Patriarch Abraham, described as the father of the Christian faith.

He urged Christians to emulate Abraham’s authentic faith by believing boldly and radically, while modelling godly living to defend the legacy of true faith.

He stressed that such faith would transform citizens into patriotic and incorruptible people who demonstrate strong work ethics, ultimately contributing to sustainable national economic development.

Rev. Wengam expressed concern about the growing trend where some Christians serve God only for material benefits, without proper emphasis on holy and righteous living. This, he said, was not the kind of faith bequeathed to Christians.

He acknowledged that although Ghana may face challenges in 2026, the year also holds great promise, prosperity, and divine favour.

Rev. Wengam announced that all Assemblies of God churches across Ghana will embark on a week-long fasting and prayer programme from Monday, January 6, to Sunday, January 11, to intercede for the Church and the nation.

In attendance at the service was H.E. David Kabre, the Burkinabe Ambassador to Ghana.
