“The Government of Ghana calls on all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate and return to diplomatic engagement in the interest of protecting lives, ensuring economic stability and lasting regional peace,” the statement said.

The Ministry reaffirmed Ghana’s long-standing commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and the promotion of global peace and security, principles that underpin the country’s foreign policy.
It indicated that Ghana was closely monitoring the situation and engaging its diplomatic missions in the region to ensure the safety and welfare of Ghanaian nationals.
While reiterating its appeal for de-escalation, the Government also activated precautionary measures to protect its citizens, including an emergency preparedness plan and ongoing assessments regarding possible evacuations where necessary.
The statement said a number of staff of the Embassy of Ghana in Tehran had been evacuated, with essential personnel retained to coordinate assistance to Ghanaians residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
