International Relations and Security Expert, Vladimir Antwi-Danso, has warned that American citizens could face an increased risk of terrorism following recent coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.

According to him, attempts at regime change in Iran could trigger unintended consequences, including a resurgence in terrorist activities targeting US interests and citizens.

Prof. Antwi-Danso made the remarks while speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, March 2, in an interview with Bernard Avle.

He criticised the United States for what he described as a failure to learn from past foreign interventions aimed at changing governments.

“If America learned its lessons, it would know that at no point has regime change created the conducive atmosphere that they wanted,” he said.

The security analyst argued that history shows regime-change strategies rarely lead to lasting peace or stability.

“If they were actually learning their lessons, they would know that regime change in nowhere else but a theocratic, monolithic state like Iran is not going to bring them any good,” he added.

Prof. Antwi-Danso noted that Iran’s political and religious structure makes it resistant to externally driven political transformation.

Expressing deep concern, he warned that the ongoing conflict could lead to an increase in global terrorist activities.

“In fact, what I’m fearing is that terrorism is going to have an uptick, and America and American citizens are at the bottom of the fallout,” he stated.

He referenced developments in Afghanistan before the September 11, 2001, attacks as an example of how foreign interventions can create conditions for extremist violence.

Prof. Antwi-Danso also criticised former US President Donald Trump, suggesting that better knowledge of history could have prevented repeated policy mistakes.

“Donald Trump, if he went to a better school and he knows his history very well, he would have known that no type of change of regime has created peace for America,” he remarked.

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, leadership compounds, and strategic sites, significantly escalating long-standing tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional influence.

Iran later responded with retaliatory attacks, further intensifying the conflict.

Following the escalation, reports indicated fatalities and injuries linked to incidents at major regional airports, including Dubai International Airport and Zayed International Airport.

These incidents led to flight groundings and widespread travel disruptions across the Middle East.

Aviation authorities have since issued advisories as tensions continue to affect regional security.

Analysts say Prof. Antwi-Danso’s comments reflect growing concerns among security experts about the long-term implications of military escalation in the Middle East.

He urged global leaders to prioritise diplomacy and dialogue over force, warning that continued confrontation could destabilise the region and endanger civilians worldwide.
