Mohamed Salah to leave Liverpool after 2025–26 season confirmed by club

Liverpool FC have officially confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield at the end of the 2025–26 season, drawing the curtain on a remarkable nine-year spell with the club.

In a statement, the Reds announced that an agreement has been reached with the forward to conclude his Liverpool career a year before his current contract expires in 2027.

“Mohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025–26 season.

The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield,” the club said. Liverpool added that Salah opted for an early announcement to ensure transparency and to show “respect and gratitude” to supporters.

Signed from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has etched his name into the club’s history, winning two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield.

The Egyptian forward has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, while also claiming four Premier League Golden Boots and numerous individual accolades.

Liverpool noted that there is still “plenty left to play for” this season, with plans to celebrate Salah’s legacy in full once he officially bids farewell to Anfield.
