Builsa South Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has authorised the release of GH¢370,000 from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to support the rehabilitation and maintenance of badly damaged roads and related infrastructure across the constituency.
The intervention, described as an immediate response to deteriorating road conditions, is intended to improve mobility, reduce transportation difficulties and support economic activity while residents await larger-scale government road projects.
The Dr. Apaak road rehabilitation initiative covers several roads identified as requiring urgent attention, including routes used by farmers, traders, transport operators and residents to access markets, schools, healthcare facilities and other essential services.

The MP had earlier released GH¢50,000 for emergency works on sections of the Uwasi–Fumbisi Road and Zamsa–Fumbisi Road after concerns were raised by residents and road users about their deteriorating condition.
Under the latest intervention, funds have been allocated as follows:
- Doninga–Kanjarga Road: GH¢50,000
- Doninga–Siniensi Road: GH¢50,000
- Uwasi–Fumbisi Road: GH¢40,000
- Kanjarga–Fumbisi Road: GH¢100,000
- Nyambisa Road and Bridge: GH¢30,000
- Wiesi–Fumbisi Road: GH¢50,000
- Earlier release for Uwasi–Fumbisi and Zamsa–Fumbisi roads: GH¢50,000
Total allocation: GH¢370,000.
According to the MP’s office, the works are expected to improve accessibility, lower transportation challenges and costs, facilitate the movement of goods and people, and strengthen access to essential services across Builsa South.
Dr. Apaak said the decision followed his direct observation of the difficulties faced by constituents using the affected roads.
“During my visit to the constituency, I saw firsthand the difficulties residents, farmers, and traders go through on these roads, and I listened carefully to their concerns.”
He stressed that roads are essential to local development because they connect communities to economic opportunities and social services.
“While major road projects remain the responsibility of central government agencies, I believe it is important to utilise available resources to address some of the immediate challenges facing our communities,” he said.
The MP said the intervention reflects his commitment to improving accessibility and supporting the socio-economic development of Builsa South.
The MP’s office said Dr. Apaak is also engaging relevant government institutions to secure more comprehensive and sustainable road infrastructure projects for the constituency.
These include the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Highway Authority and Department of Feeder Roads.
Dr. Apaak is also pressing the contractor working on the Builsa South section of the Chuchuliga–Sandema–Wiaga–Fumbisi–Wiesi road to accelerate work.
The office said the Doninga–Sandema Road, which is also in poor condition, is expected to receive attention soon, with a contractor expected to move to site.
The MP appealed to the Minister for Roads and Highways to prioritise the rehabilitation of feeder roads across Builsa South.
