NASA has successfully launched its Artemis II mission, with the spacecraft now safely in orbit around Earth following a dramatic liftoff.

The crew will remain in Earth orbit for the next 24 hours, carrying out critical system checks. If all assessments are successful, the mission will receive clearance to proceed toward the Moon.

The launch, which took place on Wednesday night, was not without challenges. Pre-flight technical issues briefly threatened delays before a final “go for launch” was confirmed, paving the way for a powerful and visually stunning liftoff.

Observers described the take-off as breathtaking, with the sheer force of the rocket felt physically by those watching from close range.

Onboard, astronaut Reid Wiseman expressed awe at the experience. “Great view,” he said as the spacecraft ascended. “It is amazing to be at this altitude,” he added moments later.

NASA officials have confirmed that the crew is “safe, secure, and in great spirits” as they begin their journey.

Although the 10-day mission will not include a lunar landing, Artemis II is set to orbit the Moon, marking a major milestone in human space exploration.

The spacecraft could also travel farther from Earth than any human mission in history, pushing the boundaries of deep space exploration.
