Iran’s lead negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has accused the United States of failing to build trust during extended high-level talks held in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Ghalibaf said Tehran presented “forward-looking initiatives” aimed at breaking the deadlock, but the negotiations ultimately ended without a deal.

On the US side, Vice-President JD Vance maintained that Washington engaged in the discussions “in good faith”, but insisted that Iran declined to accept key American conditions.

While the collapse of the talks has not come as a major surprise to observers, analysts say the outcome leaves President Donald Trump facing a critical decision — either escalate pressure on Tehran or return to the negotiating table.

Attention is now turning to what comes next, as uncertainty lingers over the future of US-Iran relations and broader regional stability.

In a related development, Israel and Lebanon are expected to hold separate talks in Washington next week.

However, reports from Beirut indicate that Israeli military operations continue in southern Lebanon, with little sign of immediate relief.
