The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has outlined major strides in infrastructure, social services, and economic interventions during the fourth quarterly Accountability Series held at Tadzewu.

The forum, the first for 2026, forms part of the MP’s ongoing commitment to transparency and citizen engagement, following similar engagements across the constituency.

Addressing residents, Mr Agbana detailed key achievements recorded over the past three months and outlined government priorities under the administration of John Dramani Mahama.

Central to his presentation was progress under the government’s “Big Push” initiative, which he said is already transforming infrastructure development across the country, including Ketu North.

He revealed that major road projects such as the Penyi-Tokor-Aflao stretch and the Dzodze-Avedakpa-Ho Road are nearing completion and will significantly improve connectivity and boost economic activity.

According to him, Dzodze has also been earmarked for a dual carriageway, with compensation processes completed and contractors expected to complete work within two years.

Additional projects under the programme include the Tadzewu-Devego-Agorve Junction road, the Dzodze-Ehi-Agbozume road, and several feeder roads, with procurement processes at advanced stages.

Mr Agbana assured constituents that delays experienced on some projects were due to statutory procurement processes, but indicated that contractors would soon move to the site.

On the economic front, he noted that government interventions were beginning to stabilise key indicators such as exchange rates and fuel prices, contributing to a gradual reduction in the cost of living.

In the health sector, the MP highlighted the rollout of Free Primary Healthcare, which allows residents to access essential services even without active health insurance.

He also referenced the “Mahama Cares” initiative, which supports patients with critical conditions such as cancer and kidney disease, revealing that at least one beneficiary from Ketu North has already received assistance.

Plans are also underway to expand healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of new facilities and nurses’ quarters to improve service delivery.

Touching on agriculture, Mr Agbana disclosed plans to establish Farmer Service Centres to provide mechanised equipment and create jobs, with one proposed for Dekpor.

In education, he cited ongoing and completed projects, including classroom blocks at Tadzewu, Fiagbedu, Tsiyinu, and Kpeyiborkope, as well as significant improvements at Afife Senior High School.

He added that over 821 students have benefited from the Ketu North Scholarship Scheme, while more than 300 computers have been distributed to schools to enhance digital learning.

Additionally, Starlink internet services have been installed in 15 schools, with plans to extend coverage to all basic schools in the constituency.

On water and sanitation, Mr Agbana noted that about 10 boreholes are constructed annually, with efforts underway to acquire a drilling machine to scale up access.

He further highlighted the Ketu North Skills and Apprenticeship Programme, which currently supports 525 beneficiaries, with a target of reaching 3,000 by 2028.

The MP also pointed to ongoing efforts to improve electricity supply through transformer upgrades and rural electrification projects, alongside initiatives to address network connectivity challenges.

Describing himself as a “chief servant,” Mr Agbana emphasised the importance of the accountability forum as a platform to engage constituents, receive feedback, and strengthen community relations.

While acknowledging progress made, he admitted that challenges remain, particularly in roads, water, and market infrastructure, but assured residents of continuous collaboration with stakeholders to address them.

“We have made significant progress, but we are not complacent. We will continue to listen, engage, and deliver on our mandate to improve the lives of our people,” he said.

The forum also provided an opportunity for residents to ask questions and raise concerns, with many expressing confidence in the MP’s leadership and optimism about ongoing development efforts.
