The African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) has once again demonstrated its commitment to democratic governance with the successful conduct of its 2026 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections, held on April 24 through a fully online voting system.

At the end of a keenly contested poll, H.E. Muniratu Mohammed emerged as President-elect, securing 403 votes—representing exactly 50.0% of the total ballots cast.

Her victory marks a significant political shift on campus and a defining moment for the TESCON chapter at AUCB.

The win is widely regarded as historic, breaking a decade-long streak during which candidates affiliated with TESCON had been unable to capture the SRC presidency. The outcome signals renewed student confidence in the group’s vision and organizational strength.

The AUCB TESCON Chapter, under the leadership of its President, H.E. Kwasi Ohene-Bugyei, played a central role in the campaign’s success.

Through coordinated grassroots mobilization, strategic planning, and sustained engagement with the student body, the team worked closely with the President-elect and Vice President-elect, H.E. Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, to secure the landmark victory.

Significant support also came from the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Divine Otoo Agorhom, whose sponsorship of election-related activities contributed to the smooth conduct of the process.

His involvement highlights the growing intersection between national political structures and youth engagement on tertiary campuses.

Adding momentum to the campaign was the presence of the Incoming Greater Accra Youth Organizer, Edward Mandela Wiafe, popularly known as “Greater Accra Mandela,” whose participation energized supporters and reinforced broader political backing for the TESCON ticket.

For many TESCON members, the victory represents more than electoral success—it reflects perseverance, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose. It also ushers in a new phase of student leadership at AUCB, with expectations of inclusive governance, accountability, and progressive representation.

As the university community looks ahead, attention now turns to the incoming SRC leadership and their ability to deliver on campaign promises and meet the aspirations of the student body.
