The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has reaffirmed his commitment to national development and community support by donating a total of GH¢100,000 from his personal resources to support key institutions in the Upper West Region.
The donation includes funding towards the completion of a fence wall project for the Ghana National Fire Service, as well as support for the Nadowli Kaleo Students Union (NADSU) and Sombo Senior High School.

Speaking at the presentation, the Speaker described the gesture as a meaningful opportunity to contribute to causes that are close to his heart, particularly those that promote safety, education, and youth development.

He stressed the importance of prioritising safety and protecting lives and property, urging Ghanaians to recognise the critical role of emergency services.
“The Ghana National Fire Service is one institution we cannot afford to treat with indifference,” he stated, reaffirming Parliament’s commitment to supporting policies and legislation aimed at strengthening the Service’s operational capacity.

Mr. Bagbin commended the regional leadership of the Fire Service for their initiative in mobilising resources. He expressed confidence that the completion of the fence wall would enhance security at the Regional Headquarters.
In addition to the GH¢100,000 mobilisation, the Speaker donated items valued at over GH¢70,000 to support the Home Economics Department and general administration of Sombo SHS. He also presented GH¢10,000 to the Nadowli Kaleo Students Union to assist with its activities.
He urged individuals, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to invest in the development of young people, especially students, to enable them to realise their full potential.
Mr. Bagbin further called on philanthropists to support the Ghana National Fire Service, emphasising that its work remains vital to the safety and well-being of all citizens.
