The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party of deliberately spreading falsehoods about the operations and procurement processes of GoldBod in an attempt to undermine public trust.

According to the NDC, the allegations being circulated by the opposition falsely suggest that procurement activities at GoldBod were conducted without due process and improperly sole-sourced through the influence of the institution’s Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.

The party has strongly rejected the claims, describing them as misleading, politically motivated, and part of a coordinated strategy to discredit government officials and weaken confidence in key state institutions.

Speaking at the relaunch of the NDC’s “Setting the Records Straight” platform in Accra, Deputy National Communications Officer Ako Gunn accused the opposition of resorting to propaganda and falsehoods after failing to engage the government on substantive policy issues.

“First, it was misinformation around GoldBod, its procurement, and others,” Ako Gunn stated, adding that the NPP had consistently moved from one “false narrative to another.”

He insisted that claims suggesting sole-sourcing and procurement breaches at GoldBod were unfounded and intended to create unnecessary public suspicion around government operations.

According to him, the relaunch of the “Setting the Records Straight” platform is aimed at providing immediate responses to controversial political claims and preventing the distortion of facts in the public domain.

GoldBod has recently become a major subject of political debate, particularly regarding procurement transparency and the broader management of Ghana’s gold resources.

However, the NDC maintains that the allegations being promoted by the opposition form part of a calculated communication strategy designed to erode public confidence in government institutions and prominent state officials.
