Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has once again cemented his place at the pinnacle of the country’s music industry after winning the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The historic victory marks the second time Black Sherif has claimed Ghana’s highest music honour, following his first win in 2023. The Konongo-born star, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, beat a formidable field that included Medikal, Wendy Shay, Diana Hamilton, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
For many industry observers, Black Sherif’s latest triumph was a well-deserved recognition of an extraordinary year defined by record-breaking streaming numbers and global chart success.

On Spotify, the award-winning artist currently commands about 2.6 million monthly listeners. The album debuted at Number 6 on the UK Top Debut Albums chart, while he emerged as Ghana’s most-streamed artist for the third consecutive year, occupying nine of the top 10 songs on the platform.
His dominance extended to Apple Music, where he held all top 12 song positions. Iron Boy remained at Number One for 21 weeks, while Sacrifice became the year’s most-streamed song.
The album also climbed to Number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart, underscoring his expanding international appeal.
Black Sherif’s success continued across African streaming platforms. He surpassed 100 million streams on Boomplay and has amassed more than 1.11 billion plays on Audiomack, where he boasts 3.01 million listeners and 5.83 million followers.
In addition to the top honour, he captured three other major awards:

Organised by Charterhouse Productions, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains Ghana’s most prestigious music awards platform, celebrating excellence across all genres through a combination of streaming performance, airplay, stagecraft, and overall industry impact.
