The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has released GH¢2.6 billion to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) to facilitate payments to cocoa farmers across all producing regions of the country.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, July 2, 2026, a significant portion of the funds has been dedicated to settling outstanding institutional debts owed to farmers.
Out of the total disbursement, approximately GH¢1.4 billion has been earmarked to settle the remaining balances owed by LBCs to farmers who supplied cocoa on credit during the season.

The latest injection pushes total payments for the 2025/26 crop season to record levels. COCOBOD disclosed that it has so far disbursed GH¢34,523,447,255.64 to LBCs for onward payment to cocoa growers.
To ensure transparency and timely distribution, the Board indicated that it has strengthened monitoring systems to track the flow of funds from LBCs to farmers.
COCOBOD assured that no farmer who legitimately sold cocoa through approved channels would be denied their rightful earnings.
The Board also urged farmers with outstanding claims to engage their respective Licensed Buying Companies for clarification and resolution.
COCOBOD expressed appreciation to cocoa farmers for their patience and resilience during what it described as a challenging period, noting that the latest financial release reflects government’s commitment to strengthening the cocoa sector and safeguarding farmer welfare.
