Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Sanni Jajah, has passed away. He died on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to multiple reports.
The sad news was confirmed by Yussif Issaka Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, who announced his nephew’s passing via a Facebook post on the same day.
“With a heavy heart, I regret to inform you all that I have lost my nephew, Sanni Jajah, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. This sad event occurred this evening. Further details regarding the funeral and final arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” he wrote.

Alhaji Sanni Jajah was appointed Ghana’s Deputy Head of Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 11, 2025, by President John Dramani Mahama. In his role, he worked closely with Ambassador Alhaji Said Sinare to oversee consular operations and provide essential support to Ghanaian citizens in Saudi Arabia, including the large contingent of Hajj pilgrims.
His death comes shortly after he played a key role in the successful coordination of Ghana’s 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, a task that required immense diplomatic skill and physical endurance.
The Jajah family has requested privacy as they make further arrangements regarding funeral rites. Meanwhile, colleagues and associates have taken to social media to mourn the loss of a dedicated public servant whose quiet efficiency earned him respect across the diplomatic corps.
