The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted bank robbery at a GCB branch in Labone in Accra, resulting in the deaths of two suspected robbers and the arrest of another.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, when police officers intervened to stop the robbery attempt at the bank.
According to the Police Service, the suspects were confronted during the operation, leading to a shootout in which two of them were shot dead.

A third suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody to assist with investigations.
In a brief statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the development, stating: “Two suspects have been gunned down, and one has been arrested.”
The Police have not yet disclosed further details about the identities of the suspects, the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery, or whether any money or property was taken from the bank.
