A devastating multi-vehicle collision on Accra’s N6 expressway at Ofankor has claimed 11 lives and left 13 others injured in the early hours of Thursday, authorities have confirmed.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported that the pre-dawn crash involved two tipper trucks, a minibus, and a tricycle (aboboyaa) along the express lane from Pokuase towards Achimota.

The impact occurred around 4:00 am, triggering a massive gridlock that choked the morning commute.

Emergency responders, including police and fire personnel, rushed to the scene to rescue trapped victims and restore order.

The black minibus—severely mangled in the wreckage—trapped several passengers, with GNFS teams successfully extricating all survivors by 8:45 am.

Police have since diverted traffic onto the outer service lane as investigations into the cause of the tragedy get underway. No official statement has been released on the identities of the deceased.
