The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled its National Executive Elections for Saturday, October 3, 2026, as the party begins preparations to elect new national executives.
The party has also announced nomination fees for various positions and urged all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and with decorum.
According to the NPP’s National Elections Committee, nominations will open on August 17, 2026, and close on August 22.

Candidates will subsequently have from August 23 to 27 to file their nomination forms, while vetting of aspirants is scheduled for August 31 to September 3.
Announcing the timetable, Chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, urged prospective candidates and stakeholders to take note of the deadlines.
“We urge every prospective aspirant and stakeholder to take careful note of these dates. The committee intends to adhere to the timetable so that the party can proceed towards the National Delegates Conference in an orderly and predictable manner.”
Nomination fees
The party has set the nomination fee for the position of National Chairman at GH¢50,000, while aspirants for Vice Chairman will pay GH¢30,000.
Candidates seeking the position of General Secretary will pay GH¢25,000, while aspirants for all other national executive positions will pay GH¢10,000.
Nomination fees for the party’s Special Wings — Nasara, Women and Youth — have been pegged at GH¢8,000.
The fees are as follows:
- National Chairman: GH¢50,000
- Vice Chairman: GH¢30,000
- General Secretary: GH¢25,000
- All other national executive positions: GH¢10,000
- Special Wings — Nasara, Women and Youth: GH¢8,000
Election timetable
The NPP has released the following timetable for the election process:
- August 17–22: Opening and closing of nominations
- August 23–27: Filing of nomination forms
- August 31–September 3: Vetting of aspirants
- September 5: Publication of vetting results
- September 6–7: Appeals
- September 10: National Executive Committee and National Council meetings
- September 14: Notice of poll
- October 3: National Executive Elections
The party has urged all aspirants and their supporters to familiarise themselves with the electoral guidelines to ensure a smooth and orderly contest.
The party has also cautioned candidates and their supporters to maintain decorum throughout the campaign period.
Adherence to the rules would be critical to ensuring that the electoral process remains peaceful and predictable ahead of the National Delegates Conference.
Elections Committee
The National Executive Elections will be conducted by a committee chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah.
The committee comprises:

Vetting and Appeals Committees
The NPP has also constituted a National Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Other members are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Saeed, Amb. (Dr.) Barffour Agyei-Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, Arnold Boateng and Evans Nimako, who serves as Secretary.
The National Appeals Committee is chaired by Joe Ghartey and includes Rev. S.K. Boafo, Anthony Namoo, George Mireku Duker, Dr. Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeni, Gifty Ohene Konadu, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, Laurette Korkor Asante and Augustine Odei, who serves as Secretary.
Under the party’s rules, an aspirant or party member aggrieved by a decision of the National Vetting Committee may submit a written petition to the National Appeals Committee.
The Appeals Committee is expected to determine a petition within 48 hours.
Where an applicant remains dissatisfied with the Appeals Committee’s decision, the person may lodge a further appeal with the National Executive Committee, whose decision will be final and binding.
The October 3 elections will be a significant step in the NPP’s preparations for its next phase of internal organisation and leadership.
