The Appointments Committee of Parliament is set to vet Ministers-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology today, Thursday, August 27, 2026.
The vetting forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s latest ministerial nominations, which have been submitted to Parliament for consideration and approval.
The two nominees, Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, are expected to appear before the Appointments Committee of Parliament as the House works to complete the process ahead of their possible approval and assumption of office.

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is being vetted for the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology while Mahama Ayariga is the nominee for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
Their vetting allows members of the Appointments Committee to assess their competence, experience, policy priorities and suitability for the respective portfolios.
The vetting follows a request by Parliament’s Business Committee for a waiver of the Standing Orders requirement relating to the publication of presidential nominations.
The waiver was intended to prevent the publication requirement from delaying the ministerial vetting process and allow the Appointments Committee to proceed with the exercise during the emergency recall of Parliament.
The move is expected to facilitate the swift consideration of President Mahama’s nominations as the government prepares for the next phase of its policy and budget implementation.
Following the Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and Mahama Ayariga vetting, the Appointments Committee is expected to prepare and submit its reports to the full House.
Parliament will subsequently consider the reports and vote on the nominations in accordance with established parliamentary procedures.
If approved, the nominees will be cleared to assume their respective ministerial responsibilities and begin work with their ministries.
The exercise is therefore a crucial step in completing the Parliamentary approval process for President Mahama’s ministerial nominees
