The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for the Portuguese coach to continue as head coach of the Black Stars.
The decision means Carlos Queiroz will remain in charge of Ghana’s senior national football team after his previous mandate, which included leading the Black Stars at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, ended.
According to the GFA, negotiations involving Carlos Queiroz, the Association and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have resulted in an agreement for the Portuguese coach to take up a new coaching mandate.

His new tenure as Black Stars head coach will begin with the upcoming international window, as the team prepares for their next series of international engagements.
The GFA said Carlos Queiroz’s international experience, technical expertise and familiarity with the Black Stars were key factors behind the decision to retain him as head coach.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, the football governing body expressed confidence in the Portuguese coach’s ability to guide Ghana into the next phase of its international programme.
“The GFA believes Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars position him strongly to lead the team into this next chapter,” the Association said.
The decision gives Carlos Queiroz another opportunity to build on his experience with the Ghana national team and oversee the Black Stars’ preparations for their upcoming fixtures.
The Ghana Football Association has not yet disclosed the duration or specific financial and contractual terms of Carlos Queiroz’s new mandate.
The GFA said further details about the Portuguese coach’s new assignment, as well as the Black Stars’ upcoming programme, would be announced in due course.
For now, Carlos Queiroz is expected to turn his attention to preparations for Ghana’s next international commitments as the GFA seeks to establish what it describes as a successful new phase for the Black Stars.
His continued appointment is expected to provide some continuity for the national team as Ghana begins preparations for its next challenges on the international stage.
