The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given members and aspirants participating in its ongoing reorganisation exercise five days to comply with new campaign poster and banner rules, warning that violations could attract disciplinary action.

The party has capped the size of campaign posters and banners at five feet wide by eight feet high and directed aspirants to display the materials only at approved locations.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 9, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC said it had observed with concern that some members and aspirants had mounted oversized campaign posters and banners at various locations across the country.

The party said those affected had five days to make the necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with the new directive.

It warned that any wilful disregard of the restrictions would attract disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s rules.

The party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) directed that campaign posters and banners be displayed only at designated locations, including constituency offices, regional offices and election grounds.

The directive effectively prohibits aspirants from mounting campaign publicity materials at locations outside those approved by the party during the ongoing reorganisation exercise.

According to the NDC, the decision follows deliberations at a Functional Executive Committee meeting held on Tuesday, October 6, where members considered measures to maintain order and discipline throughout the internal electoral process.

The restrictions are also intended to promote a level playing field for all aspirants seeking positions within the party.

By standardising the size and placement of campaign materials, the party aims to regulate campaign publicity and ensure that members comply with the rules governing the reorganisation exercise.

The party said the directive is also informed by its position that, as the governing political organisation, it must demonstrate modesty and restraint in its activities.

The FEC stressed the need to avoid excessive displays that could be inconsistent with the values the party espouses and the expectations of Ghanaians.

“FEC is further conscious that, as the party in government, the NDC must lead by example through modesty and restraint and must avoid any display of extravagance or perception of it that is inconsistent with the values we espouse and the expectations of the Ghanaian people,” the statement said.

The five-day compliance period gives affected members and aspirants a limited window to resize or relocate their campaign materials in line with the directive.

The party has warned that failure to comply voluntarily could result in disciplinary measures as it seeks to enforce the new rules throughout the ongoing reorganisation exercise.
