Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has declared his readiness to submit himself to any investigation into allegations of extortion levelled against him by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.
Afenyo-Markin said he would cooperate fully with any competent investigative authority if the allegations are formally reported, insisting that he has nothing to hide.
Delivering his opening remarks during Parliament’s emergency recall sitting on Monday, August 24, 2026, the Minority Leader challenged his accusers to report the allegations to the Police, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), or any other appropriate investigative body.

“I shall submit myself to every investigation so that eventually my name is cleared,” he said.
The Minority Leader’s comments come amid allegations of extortion and related conduct involving him and the GoldBod CEO.
Afenyo-Markin also disclosed that he has already taken legal steps in response to the allegations and related claims made against him.
He said writs have been filed in two separate cases involving individuals and media organisations.
The first case, Suit No. GT/1029/2026, is titled Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin v. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi & Multimedia Group Limited and was filed at the Accra High Court.
The second case, Suit No. GR/ACH/CC/C5/02/2026, is titled Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin v. Eric Agjei & Peace FM and was filed at the Achimota Circuit Court.
According to Afenyo-Markin, he is confident that the courts will make the appropriate determinations on the matters.
He described his decision to pursue the issues through lawful channels as taking the “high moral ground” in response to the allegations.
Defending his record as Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin said he has carried out his responsibilities with integrity, hard work and a clear conscience.
“I have served in this position with integrity,” he stated, adding that he has remained faithful to the responsibilities entrusted to him.
He said he remains confident in the legal process and is prepared to cooperate with any investigation that may arise from the allegations.
The Minority Leader’s position effectively puts the matter before the relevant legal institutions, while the two suits he disclosed remain part of the judicial process.
