New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairmanship aspirant Boakye Agyarko has called on the party’s newly elected and re-elected regional executives to prioritise unity, reconciliation and grassroots mobilisation as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Mr Agyarko made the call while congratulating the new regional executives following the successful conduct of the NPP’s regional executive elections across all 16 regions on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Vincent Frimpong Manu, Mr Agyarko said the elections had demonstrated the NPP’s commitment to internal democracy and provided a renewed opportunity for the party to strengthen its structures from the grassroots.
Unity is non-negotiable
According to Mr Agyarko, the NPP must now move beyond the internal contests and focus on rebuilding cohesion within the party.
“As we move toward the 2028 General Elections, the unity of our party is non-negotiable,” he said.
He urged the newly elected regional executives to begin reconciliation and mobilisation efforts immediately, stressing that the party would need the collective contribution of its members to regain power in 2028.
Mr Agyarko also appealed to candidates who were unsuccessful in the elections not to disengage from the party’s activities.
He said their experience and dedication remained important to the NPP’s rebuilding process.
“I congratulate all those who have been entrusted with leadership at the regional level. The task ahead is a call to duty that requires strategic leadership and effective grassroots mobilization. To those who were unsuccessful this time, the party still needs your experience and dedication,” he stated.
2028 strategy
The former Energy Minister, who is seeking to become the NPP’s National Chairman, said the party’s immediate priority should be to strengthen its organisational structures and develop an effective grassroots campaign ahead of the 2028 elections.
He said the NPP must work towards securing victory for its 2028 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as its parliamentary candidates.
Mr Agyarko pledged that if elected National Chairman, he would work closely with regional party structures to institutionalise a grassroots-based campaign strategy.
The strategy, he said, would ensure that voters are effectively engaged and understand the party’s rebuilding agenda.
Mr Agyarko commended the NPP Elections Committee and the security agencies for what he described as a generally peaceful and transparent regional election process.
He said the conduct of the elections had strengthened the party’s institutional credibility and created a foundation for the next phase of its reorganisation.
The newly elected regional executives are expected to play a key role in rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures, mobilising supporters and coordinating preparations for the 2028 general elections.
For Mr Agyarko, however, the success of the NPP’s rebuilding exercise will depend largely on the ability of its leaders and members to put internal differences aside and work towards a common objective.
