The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has dismissed reports suggesting that Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has resigned from the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, the Ministry said there has been no disagreement, conflict, or dissatisfaction between the Minister and GoldBod, describing the reports as false.
According to the Ministry, Armah-Kofi Buah initially served personally on the GoldBod Board but subsequently nominated the Ministry’s Chief Director, Marcus Haligah, to represent him on the Board in January 2026.

The Ministry explained that the decision was administrative and was necessitated by the Minister’s demanding schedule and extensive responsibilities.
At the time, the Minister was overseeing responsibilities across two ministries, making it difficult for him to attend GoldBod board meetings and other engagements regularly.
“The Ministry wishes to state categorically that the reports are false and do not reflect the facts,” the statement said.
It added that the arrangement was consistent with GoldBod’s governance framework, which allows designated representatives to serve on behalf of members where applicable.
The Ministry also stressed that it maintains a good working relationship with GoldBod and cited several ongoing collaborations between the institutions.
These include a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ghana Geological Survey Authority and GoldBod to intensify mineral exploration, as well as collaboration between GoldBod and the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme on responsible mining.
The Forestry Commission is also working with GoldBod on land reclamation, while GoldBod has supported the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme (NAELP/NAIMOS) with vehicles as part of collaborative efforts.
The Ministry said Armah-Kofi Buah remains committed to the government’s agenda of strengthening Ghana’s gold sector, increasing local value retention and promoting responsible mining.
It urged the public and media organisations to rely on official communications from the Ministry and GoldBod on matters concerning the institution.
