NPP 2028 flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to work with all members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including those who lost in the recently concluded regional elections, to secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia said the party’s internal elections must not become a source of division, urging all members to put the contests behind them and unite around the newly elected executives and the broader objective of returning the NPP to power.
He made the remarks on Sunday, August 16, when the newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

“I am open to work with everyone to ensure the party wins the 2028 elections,” Dr Bawumia said.
The NPP flagbearer urged newly elected executives to be magnanimous in victory and extend their cooperation to members who contested against them.
“This election is over. You had competitors; let us come together,” he said.
According to Dr Bawumia, the outcome of the internal elections should mark the beginning of a new phase of collaboration rather than deepen divisions within the party.
He stressed that all members, regardless of their positions or whether they won or lost in the regional elections, would be needed to achieve the NPP’s electoral objective in 2028.
Dr Bawumia identified unity as the “key ingredient” required for the NPP to regain political power in 2028.
He acknowledged that considerable work remained to be done following the party’s ongoing reorganisation exercise, but expressed confidence that the process would provide the organisational structure needed for the next general election.
The party has so far conducted its polling station, electoral area, constituency and regional elections, with the national executive elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.
Dr Bawumia said the completion of the reorganisation would position the NPP to begin preparations for the 2028 campaign with a strengthened grassroots and leadership structure.
“If we are united, we will win the 2028 election because that is the key ingredient of victory,” he added.
The call for unity comes as the NPP moves beyond its internal elections and prepares for the next phase of its reorganisation.
Dr Bawumia’s appeal signals an effort to bring together competing factions and supporters following the regional contests, while encouraging newly elected executives to work with all stakeholders.
With the national executive elections still ahead, the party is expected to continue its internal restructuring before turning its full attention to the 2028 general elections.
For Dr Bawumia, the immediate priority is to ensure that competition within the party does not undermine the collective campaign to win back power.
