Fire has destroyed the family house of the late former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, on Wednesday.
The fire broke out at about 4:00 p.m. at Changli, a suburb of Tamale, destroying the residential property and forcing occupants to flee to safety. No casualties have been reported.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to the distress call and prevented the flames from spreading to neighbouring houses, helping avert a larger disaster.

The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Assistant Divisional Officer Grade I Hudu Baba, said several household items and other valuables had already been destroyed before firefighters arrived at the scene.
Although the fire was eventually brought under control, the affected family suffered significant property losses, leaving occupants displaced.
Officials say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The Ghana National Fire Service has urged the public to observe fire safety measures and report fire outbreaks promptly to minimise damage and protect lives and property.
